Register to Vote

In order to be eligible to vote, you must register in the county in which you reside.
By registering, you declare your primary residency in the State of Colorado, in Pitkin County, in the City of Aspen and in all districts in which your actual physical residence is included.
Qualifications to register to vote in the City of Aspen
You must be:
- a citizen of the United States, and
- 18 years old by Election Day, and
- a resident of Aspen for at least 30 days prior to an election and consider Aspen your sole legal place of residence.
You must register 29 days or more before an election to be eligible to vote in the election.
If you are registering to vote for the first time in the State of Colorado and are mailing this registration application, please provide a copy of one the forms of identification listed below:
The voter may provide a copy of one of the following forms of identification
- A valid Colorado Driver's license;
- A valid identification card issued by the Department of Revenue;
- A valid U.S. passport;
- A valid employee identification with a photograph of the eligible elector issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government or of this state, or by any county, municipality, board, authority, or other political subdivision of this state;
- A valid pilot's license issued by the Federal Aviation Administration or other authorized agency of the United States;
- A valid U.S. military identification card with a photograph;
- A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the name and address of the elector. (A cable bill, a telephone bill, documentation from a public institution of higher education in Colorado containing at least the name, date of birth, and residence address of the student elector, or a paycheck from a government institution or private company are sufficient forms of ID);
- A valid Medicare or Medicaid card;
- A certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate; or
- Certified documentation of naturalization;
In Person
If you are registering to vote for the first time in the State of Colorado in person, you will be requested to provide the number of one of the following forms of identification:
- Valid Colorado Driver's License number; or
- Valid Department of Revenue identification number; or
- At least the four last digits of the person's social security number.
You may register to vote at any one of the following designated offices:
- Any County Clerk's office
- Driver's License office
Changes in voter registration information
If you are currently registered in the City of Aspen and wish to change your address within Aspen, name, or party affiliation, you will need to obtain a Changes in Voter Registration Information form from the Pitkin County Clerk (920-5180), fill it out and deliver it to the Clerk's office. |
