Mick for MayorTransportation RecordRoundabout completed on time and on budget with $4.8 Million from CDOT and developer exactions (Highlands). Four lane HOV section Snowmass Canyon ($107 million) and Basalt to Buttermilk HOV funded and completed. Maroon Creek Bridge funded with local match and CDOT's $17 million. Mick lobbied for and the legislature eventually passed RTA (Rural Transportation Authority) enabling laws. With the power to create multi-jurisdictional transit systems, he then campaigned with many others to expand RFTA's funding and reach from the upper valley all the way to Rifle. Supported and campaigned for the valley-wide acquisition of the Denver and Rio Grande Right of Way from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. Successfully requested the inclusion of RFTA transit facility in state-wide ballot measure in 2005. Selected as the Colorado Association of Transit Agencies Citizen of the Year. Elected and served almost a decade as the chair of the five-county Intermountain Regional Planning Commission for the State Transportation Advisory Committee. |
